CPSO wrapped up its inaugural five-year Quality cycle in October 2025 and the impact of its Quality programs is clear, with over 32,000 physicians participating. This milestone marks a strong foundation as CPSO prepares to launch its second cycle, offering refreshed and flexible program options for 2026–2030.
All physicians practising in Ontario must complete at least one CPSO Quality program during each five-year cycle. Physicians fulfill this requirement by choosing between two options: a Quality Improvement (QI) program or a Quality Assurance (QA) program, with the vast majority choosing to complete the QI program during the first cycle.
CPSO Quality programs are designed to support continuous improvement and professional development across Ontario’s medical community. Looking ahead, the second five-year cycle (2026–2030) launches with new and refreshed program activities. These can be completed:
- individually,
- in small groups, or
- as part of a hospital-based QI initiative submitted by the physician’s hospital.
